Cooper is continuing the process of going green. Various departments within the hospital are taking strides to become as sustainable and environmentally conscious as possible, and each hospital employee and visitor can help. Fran Cassidy and the Food and Nutrition Department have been environmentally friendly for years: purchasing locally grown produce, fair-trade coffee, cage-free eggs, and providing a menu with the cafeteria is giving discounts for use of reusable coffee cups, and has even begun investigating methods of composting for organic food waste.

Cooper Announces $1 Million in Corporate Funding for Cooper Plaza Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Projects

Cooper University Hospital today announced $1 million in corporate funding for several revitalization projects to support housing, stimulate economic development and improve neighborhood conditions in the Cooper Plaza community. The announcement was made at the site of nine new homes currently being built by Metro Camden Habitat for Humanity, the first construction project to kick-off under the Cooper Plaza Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit plan.

Cooper Recognized by the Society for Thoracic Surgeons as Top 12 Percent in U.S. for Second Year In a Row

Cooper University Hospital is pleased to announce that for the second year in a row, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons has recognized the cardiac surgery program for outstanding performance. Last year, Cooper was among the top 14 percent in the nation and this year ranks in the top 12 percent — an exceptional improvement in overall performance.

Cooper Names New Pavilion for NJ Speaker Joseph Roberts

Cooper University Hospital formally named its new 10-story patient Pavilion in honor of Joseph J. Roberts, Jr., former Speaker of the New Jersey General Assembly and longtime supporter of Camden and South Jersey. The announcement of the “Roberts Pavilion” was made today at a dedication ceremony with nearly 400 business, civic and government leaders in attendance.
