Cooper University Health Care Launches EMT Training Program This Summer With Inaugural Class

As part of its Health Careers Initiative (CHCI) program, Cooper University Health Care, in cooperation with several community organizations, is now offering a new program for students interested in becoming emergency medical technicians (EMTs).

The Cooper EMT Training Program, developed in partnership with the Camden County Board of Commissioners, Camden County One Stop, Camden County College, Camden County Workforce Development Board, and Hopeworks, will provide low-cost, comprehensive training for an entry-level career in emergency medical services. Atlantic Gastroenterology Associates Joins Cooper University Health Care

(Egg Harbor Township, NJ) – In a move that will expand gastroenterology services in the region, Atlantic Gastroenterology Associates of Egg Harbor Township has joined the Digestive Health Institute of Cooper University Health Care. The practice will be renamed Cooper University Health Care, Gastroenterology at Fire Road.

Camden Institutions Partner to Launch Groundbreaking Camden Cancer Research Center

In a significant collaborative effort, the Coriell Institute for Medical Research, Cooper University Health Care, and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) have launched the Camden Cancer Research Center (CCRC), a partnership to investigate cancer and translate basic cancer science into new treatments. The three organizations have pledged an initial $30 million to start this center.

Scientists in the CCRC will hail from the three organizations and the center will encompass all of Coriell’s cancer research efforts, including eight scientists responsible for $5 million in annual federal research funding currently. Read more.

The Cooper Foundation Receives $50K Donation for Ovarian Cancer Research

Donation Celebrates the Life of Barbara T. Ferraro

The Ferraro family of Langhorne, PA, presented a check for $50,000 to The Cooper Foundation in honor of their loved one, Barbara, who lost her valiant six-year battle with cancer earlier this year at the age of 61. The funds will support ovarian cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper.

Cooper Team Members Honored as 2023 Healthcare Heroes

Cooper University Health Care and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University were well represented at NJBIZ magazine’s 2023 Healthcare Heroes awards held June 27 in Somerset, NJ.

Among the honorees were Dr. Rachel Haroz and Iris Jones from Cooper’s Center for Healing in the category of Education Hero/Organization for their work in providing trauma informed care training to the Emergency Department team members.  Read more.

Cooper University Health Care is the First in the Country to Use Artificial Intelligence for Early Detection of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Cooper University Health Care announced today that it is the first hospital in the country to use Viz Aortic, an innovative artificial intelligence-powered software designed to detect abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA).

An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a bulging or ballooning in a portion of the aorta that runs through the abdomen. This bulge can break open, causing life-threatening internal bleeding if not caught in time. Read more.

More than 450 guests attended The Cooper Foundation’s annual Golf Outing and 13th annual Pink Roses Teal Magnolias celebration of cancer survivorship held recently at Ramblewood Country Club in Mount Laurel. This event, which included a merchant fair, a sold-out golf outing, and an awards dinner ceremony, provided inspiration while raising $500,000 for programs and services at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper.
