The number one high school basketball team and player in the nation promote the importance of vaccinations before the start of the school year

(Gloucester Township, NJ) – With COVID-19 cases rising across the country, the Board of County Commissioners is continuing to work with important influencers in their community to increase vaccine administration. The more transmissible version of the virus, the Delta variant, is spreading among the unvaccinated and increasing hospitalizations and sickness throughout the region underscoring the need for vaccinations. Arriving via a patriotic flag run, a contingent of U.S. Navy SEALs and representatives from the GI Go Fund visited Cooper University Health Care on August 6 to thank frontline health care workers for their efforts during the pandemic. The SEALs delivered a 100 push-ups “SEALs Salute” on the front lawn of the hospital to honor Cooper’s team members for their response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more.

Carman Ciervo, DO, has been named chief physician executive of Cooper Care Alliance (CCA), Cooper University Health Care’s community-based physician group.

Formed in 2020, CCA, a community-based physician group, is the health system’s second physician group along with the 800-member Cooper University Physicians (CUP) group, South Jersey’s largest physician group. CCA physicians are community-based and will focus on innovative strategies in primary care delivery. Read more.

Andrea M. Russo, MD, FACC, FHRS, FAHA, a cardiologist and director of the electrophysiology and arrhythmia service at Cooper University Health Care and professor of medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, was appointed to the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Cardiovascular Specialty Board.

Cooper University Health Care and the Philadelphia 76ers have teamed up to renovate and upgrade the basketball court at Dominick Andujar Park in Camden as part of a community partnership between the two organizations. The basketball court rebuild is one of a number of initiatives the two organizations have teamed up together to support families in the City of Camden.

As COVID-19 cases continue to decline,  Cooper University Health Care closed its COVID-19 testing site on the campus of Camden County College in Cherry Hill with a celebration and tribute honoring the dedicated health care workers who have worked tirelessly for 16 months to provide testing services to the community.

When the first wave of COVID-19 began impacting South Jersey in March 2020, Cooper quickly responded by establishing numerous community-based testing sites in the region. Read more.

The Cooper Foundation announced that it raised $130,000 at the Inaugural Cooper Cup Golf Outing held June 28 at Ramblewood Country Club in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.

More than 140 golfers attended the sold-out event held during Men’s Health Month, which focuses on raising awareness of preventable health problems and encourages early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. Read more.
