Cooper University Health Care Establishes “Cooper Civic Leadership Award” for Rutgers Students Engaged in Camden Community Service Efforts

In recognition of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and day of service, Cooper University Health Care has created a Cooper Civic Leadership Award of $1,000 for a Rutgers University–Camden student who exemplifies outstanding service to the Camden community.

Adrienne Kirby, PhD, FACHE, President and CEO of Cooper University Health Care, was a guest panelist today at the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 3rd Annual Economic Conference.

Cooper Nurse Receives DAISY Award

Cooper University Health Care recognized Jan Vincent Adovas, RN, with The DAISY Award for providing exceptional nursing care. Jan works as a nurse on Cooper’s Pavillion 7 Unit. He was nominated by the family of a recent patient and was cited for his professional care, compassion and advocacy on behalf of the patient.

The DAISY Award, established by The DAISY Foundation, is an international program that celebrates the extraordinary care given by nurses every day. Read more.

Jeffrey Lang Thanks Cooper With the Gift of Music

Jeffrey Lang, associate principal horn for the Philadelphia Orchestra, found a unique way to say thank  you for the great care he received recently as a patient at Cooper University Health Care. American Cancer Society Recognizes MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper was recently recognized by the American Cancer Society (ACS) for our collaboration in furthering our shared mission to eliminate cancer and improve the lives of those diagnosed with cancer through our research, advocacy, support, and patient programs efforts.

In 2017, MD Anderson Cooper partnered with ACS on many cancer prevention and education programs including:

  • 80% by 2018 Program – an initiative designed to improve colorectal cancer screening rates in our communities through coordinated leadership, strategic planning, advocacy and access to colorectal cancer screening services.

Rowan University commits $50 million for medical research at Cooper Medical School

Cooper University Health Care Board commits to developing top research program to benefit patients and Camden economy

Last week, Rowan University’s Board of Trustees committed $50 million over ten years to significantly enhance medical and bioscience research at the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) in the City of Camden. Cooper University Health Care’s Board voted today committing to a collaborative effort to build a first-rate medical research program focused on recruiting top research and clinical faculty to develop breakthrough medical cures and treatments. Cooper EMS Helps Family Displaced by Hurricane Maria

Last week, Bob Chester and Zach Ewan, members of Cooper’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team, met a local family helping relatives from Puerto Rico who were displaced by Hurricane Maria. They knew this family would need some help getting through the season. Together with on- and off-duty staff, donations came in for a Christmas tree, toys, and gift certificates to use for clothing. Cooper University Health Care Announces, After Extensive Due Diligence, It Will Not Acquire Lourdes Health System and St. Francis Medical Center

Cooper University Health Care announced today that it will no longer pursue the acquisition of Trinity Health’s New Jersey assets, including Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington, and St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton. Cooper signed a Letter of Intent on August 31, 2017, to acquire Trinity Health’s New Jersey hospitals.

Since the Letter of Intent was executed, Cooper University Health Care has undertaken substantial and exhaustive due diligence with respect to the proposed transaction that included a comprehensive review of compliance, legal, regulatory, and operational issues.  Read more.

“Turn the Tide Summit” Held at Cooper

Cooper University Health Care was proud to host The American Pain Association’s “Turn the Tide Summit” to address the challenges and strategies surrounding America’s opioid epidemic. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was the keynote speaker at the summit which was attended by medical professionals, elected officials, and former athletes among others.
