Cooper Surgeon First in NJ to perform minimally-invasive “GORE® TAG®” procedure to treat arch aortic aneurysms

In early September, a surgical team at Cooper University Health Care, led by Joseph V. Lombardi, MD, FACS, head of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and director of the Cooper Aortic Center, became the first in New Jersey to perform a new minimally-invasive treatment for complicated arch aortic aneurysms.

Cooper is one of only a handful of hospi­tals in the region—and fewer than 40 nationwide—participating in a pivotal study of the GORE® TAG® Thoracic Branch Endoprosthesis (TBE).   Read more.

Cooper EMS Supervisor Helping in Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

Cooper EMS supervisor, Dave Taylor, left for Texas on Tuesday August 29 as part of the Pennsylvania Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT), part of the National Disaster Medical System. Dave’s DMAT team is composed of physicians, nurses, EMTs, paramedics, and pharmacists and is a self-contained mobile hospital, tasked with providing medical care to hurricane survivors. They are current operating in the Houston/Beaumont area providing disaster relief. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care Board of Trustees Chairman George E. Norcross III on August 31, 2017, announced that Cooper had signed a letter of intent to acquire Trinity Health’s New Jersey facilities, which include Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County, and St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton.
