Cooper Trauma Lights Up The DiFlorio Family Healing Garden To Celebrate a Season of Hope

On Wednesday, December 8, 2010, the first signs of snow this winter came from The DiFlorio Family Healing Garden at Cooper University Hospital. Glistening snowflakes filled the trees as Cooper’s Trauma Family Support Group hosted a lighting dedication in honor of patients, families, staff and visitors at Cooper.

Lee Solomon of Haddonfield, NJ, his family, friends and business associates from throughout New Jersey, including New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, attended a fundraiser at Cooper University Hospital exactly one year after a bike accident almost took his life.

Traumatic Injury Prevention Program Featured in Courier-Post

Students from Seneca High School were exposed to what day-to-day life is like at a Level I Trauma Center on Wednesday during a three-hour course that included examples of execution-style gunshot wounds, severe burns and suicide attempts as well as simulated trauma cases. The lesson for students - most trauma injuries are preventable.

Cooper University Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center Receives Continued Verification from the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma

(Camden, New Jersey) — The trauma center at Cooper University Hospital has been verified as a Level 1 trauma center by the Committee on Trauma (COT) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This achievement recognizes the trauma center's dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients. Established by the American College of Surgeons in 1987, the COTs Certification/Consultation Program for Hospitals promotes the development of trauma centers in which participants provide not only the hospital resources necessary for trauma care, but also the entire spectrum of care to address the needs of all injured patients. This spectrum encompasses the pre-hospital phase through the rehabilitation process.
