National Crohn’s and Colitis Awareness Week

This week is National Crohn’s and Colitis Awareness Week. Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease characterized by gastrointestinal inflammation. While it can affect any part of the gastrointestinal system, it most commonly affects the small and large intestine (colitis). Symptoms of Crohn’s disease range from mild to severe and may include abdominal pain, cramping, decreased appetite, weight loss, chronic diarrhea, rectal bleeding, etc. Crohn’s disease affects both men and women equally. Most cases are diagnosed between the ages of 15 and 35. For more information, click here.
