Pathology Department Hosts Medical Society Event

Physicians came from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland to attend the quarterly meeting of the South Jersey Pathology Society, of which Cooper Chief of Pathology Roland Schwarting, MD, is president.

Held October 26 at the 200 Federal Street building in Camden, the evening meeting drew more than 100 pathologists and urologists to hear world-renowned speaker Jonathan I. Epstein, MD, lecture on the intricacies of diagnosing prostate cancer. Dr. Epstein is Director of Surgical Pathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the primary consultant at its Urological Pathology Consult Division.

Dr. Schwarting, who was elected president of the South Jersey Pathology Society in 2008, is credited with increasing the society’s membership and its familiarity with Cooper services by garnering corporate sponsorship for the society’s quarterly meetings in Camden, and providing its members with tours of Cooper’s Center for Special Diagnostics.
