Providing expert care in a welcoming environment designed for comfort has been the goal for the staff of the Cooper Digestive Health Institute since it opened its doors in March 2008. The Institute is a full-service, adult gastroenterology program that provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic options for area residents.
“The Digestive Health Institute in Mount Laurel is the largest outpatient gastroenterology center in South Jersey,” according to Steven R. Peikin, MD, Institute Director.
While it is the largest, every minute detail has been examined, from patient amenities such as computer kiosks and comfortable blankets, to superior technology including high-definition imaging and state-of-the-art endoscopy equipment.
Cooper gastroenterologists provide expert care for a range of conditions including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), gastro- esophageal reflux disease (GERD), and Barrett’s esophagus. They offer a level of expertise and clinical experience unmatched in the region. Says Dr. Peikin, “Our physicians perform many complex procedures that previously required hospital stays and, in some cases, surgery.”
These complex procedures include endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) to evaluate the pancreas; endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) to view the upper gastrointestinal tract, and PillCam Capsule Endoscopy to view the small bowel.
The goal of the Digestive Health team, which also includes a specially trained nursing staff led by Jeanne Greer, RN, is to provide superior care that returns patients to their daily living activities quickly and with little or no discomfort. Now that is something to celebrate.

Everyrone treated me so nice til the time I was out. Ha Ha I wish you would tell this lady who followed me in where the Dr. does her things she was amazing. She even had a wheel chair and pushed me right outside into my car. Her name was Christine Nicolosi RN Recovery Room. I got to see her grown up children and her daughter just got married.
