On Saturday, September 6th, 2014, physicians and staff from around Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper and the Women’s and Children’s Institute at Cooper came together in Haddon Heights to support the 3rd annual “Run for Reading,” coordinated by Story Storks.
Story Storks is a local non-profit organization which has partnered with Cooper to ensure that new parents understand the importance of literacy and reading aloud to their children, even before they leave the hospital. Every baby born at Cooper receives a book, free of charge, from Story Storks, and the nurses in the Mother-Infant Unit and the NICU put Baby’s footprints in the book as a keepsake. Started first at Cooper, Story Storks has begun expanding their efforts to additional hospitals in the area.
