Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is sudden damage to the brain caused by an outside force to the head – such as a car crash, a fall, or something hitting the head. An estimated 2.5 million Americans sustain TBI each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Andrea M. Russo, MD, a cardiologist and director of the electrophysiology and arrhythmia service at Cooper University Health, was inducted as the president of the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) at its annual meeting in San Francisco May 8-11, 2019.

Studies have shown that compassion from caregivers – as perceived by patients – can lead to improved outcomes for patients, lower health care costs, and even reduced burnout among health care providers. Nurses Honored During 2019 Nursing Excellence Awards

Philadelphia resident Sean Deiter, BSN, RN, was named Nurse of the Year yesterday evening at the 2019 Nursing Excellence Awards hosted by Cooper University Health Care and The Cooper Foundation. [See all photos.]

Deiter is a registered nurse in Cooper’s Intensive Care Unit. In addition to Nurse of the Year, he was also presented with the William and Eileen Archer Award for Excellence in Critical Care Nursing. Read more.
