Cooper University Health Care announces the appointment of Kevin M. O’Dowd, Esq. as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. O’Dowd, who will work directly with Cooper’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Adrienne Kirby, PhD, brings more than 17 years of executive management and legal experience to Cooper as part of the senior executive management team.

AmeriHealth New Jersey Expands Co-Branded Product Offering With Two Additional South Jersey Hospitals

AmeriHealth New Jersey has expanded its co-branded product offering with Cooper University Health Care to include Shore Medical Center and Cape Regional Medical Center. The addition of Shore and Cape has expanded the product’s reach to also include Atlantic and Cape May counties, hence the plan’s new name: “Community Advantage.”

The initial co-branded product offering from AmeriHealth New Jersey and Cooper, called Cooper Advantage, became available in October 2013 and enrolled more than 11,500 members in the first six months. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care Earns “Top Performer on Key Quality Measures®” Recognition From The Joint Commission for Second Consecutive Year

Cooper University Health Care today announced it has been recognized as a 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States. Cooper was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2014 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.

Brenner Elected to Institute of Medicine

Jeffrey C. Brenner, MD, Medical Director of the Urban Health Institute at Cooper University Health Care and Executive Director of the Camden Coalition, has been elected to the prestigious Institute of Medicine (IOM). The IOM announced the names of 70 new members and 10 foreign associates during its 43rd annual meeting. Election to the IOM is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service. Cooper University Health Care, George E. Norcross Awarded Prestigious “Seven Seals Award” for “Veterans VIP Priority Program”

Today, Cooper University Heath Care and George E. Norcross, III, Cooper’s chairman, were given the prestigious “Seven Seals Award” by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Employer Support for National Guard and Reserve (ESGR) in recognition of Cooper’s “Veterans VIP Priority Program.” The award was presented by ESGR state chair Don Tretola at an event at Cooper’s Roberts Pavilion.

Cooper and Kennedy Expand Cardiac Services to Gloucester County by Opening New Joint Venture Cath Lab

On Monday, September 22, 2014, representatives from Helen’s Angels presented physicians and staff from MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper and the Cooper Foundation with a $10,000 check to support the Patient in Need Fund.

Helen’s Angels, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to the support of individuals and their families in the Greater Philadelphia area who have been diagnosed with, impacted by or recovering from breast cancer. Read more.
