Local Nonprofit Donates Art Cart to Benefit Children at Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper

Young patients at Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper outpatient clinic will be able to nurture their creative sides thanks to the donation of Alicia’s Art Cart from the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation (ARVF).

The arts and crafts cart is stocked with age-appropriate products from arts and crafts retailer A.C. Moore, and is designed to give children receiving medical treatment an opportunity for creativity and expression during that treatment. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care and Deborah Heart and Lung Center Honored by New Jersey Hospital Association for Developing Innovative Program Serving Active Military and Veterans

Cooper University Health Care in Camden and Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills were honored today by the New Jersey Hospital Association with the 2018 Community Outreach Award. The organizations were recognized in the category of enhancing access and quality of care to reduce disparities for developing HeroCare Connect, an innovative program to increase access to health care for veterans, active military, and their families. Cooper University Health Care Establishes “Cooper Civic Leadership Award” for Rutgers Students Engaged in Camden Community Service Efforts

In recognition of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and day of service, Cooper University Health Care has created a Cooper Civic Leadership Award of $1,000 for a Rutgers University–Camden student who exemplifies outstanding service to the Camden community.

Adrienne Kirby, PhD, FACHE, President and CEO of Cooper University Health Care, was a guest panelist today at the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 3rd Annual Economic Conference.

Dr. Kirby, along with fellow panelists Dr. Larry Kaiser, president and CEO of Temple University Health System, and Dan Tropeano, CEO of UnitedHealthcare of Pennsylvania & Delaware, participated on the panel, “Health Care Quagmire: What’s next for Philadelphia’s most important industry?” Read more.

Jeffrey Lang Thanks Cooper With the Gift of Music

Jeffrey Lang, associate principal horn for the Philadelphia Orchestra, found a unique way to say thank  you for the great care he received recently as a patient at Cooper University Health Care. Jeffrey, along with some musician friends, performed a holiday concert for visitors and staff in the lobby of the Roberts Pavilion on December 21. Thank you for the beautiful gift of music! Cooper EMS Helps Family Displaced by Hurricane Maria

Last week, Bob Chester and Zach Ewan, members of Cooper’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team, met a local family helping relatives from Puerto Rico who were displaced by Hurricane Maria. They knew this family would need some help getting through the season. Together with on- and off-duty staff, donations came in for a Christmas tree, toys, and gift certificates to use for clothing. Cooper University Health Care was proud to host The American Pain Association’s “Turn the Tide Summit” to address the challenges and strategies surrounding America’s opioid epidemic. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was the keynote speaker at the summit which was attended by medical professionals, elected officials, and former athletes among others.

On Thursday, December 7, the Dr. Diane Barton Complementary Medicine Program celebrated the holidays with an Open House for all MD Anderson Cooper patients.  Many thanks to Houlihan’s of Cherry Hill, NJ, for providing the delicious appetizers that were served as attendees enjoyed music, companionship, and lots of good cheer.

Becoming a cancer survivor starts the moment a patient is diagnosed, and at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper we realize that physical healing is only part of our mission. Read more.

HO! HO! HO! Santa Claus Has a New Sleigh – Makes Pre-Holiday Visit to Cooper

While the reindeer rest up for their big night on Christmas Eve, the flight crew of Cooper 1, Cooper University Health Care’s air medical transport helicopter, gave Santa a lift as he made a pre-Christmas visit to the hospital.  For the past five years, Santa has completed a pre-holiday test run to visit children hospitalized at Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper.
