Internationally Renowned Neurology Expert Joins Cooper University Health Care

Internationally renowned neurologist and researcher, Tudor G. Jovin, MD, has joined Cooper University Health Care as chief and chairman of Cooper Neurological Institute.

Dr. Jovin is an expert in the interventional and non-interventional treatment for the entire spectrum of stroke and cerebrovascular disorders. He is board certified in neurology and has additional board certifications in vascular neurology and critical care neurology. Read more.

Cooper Radiology First in South Jersey to Offer New Diagnostic Tool for Prostate Cancer

Cooper University Health Care is the first health system in South Jersey to offer a new diagnostic test to detect recurrent prostate cancer earlier. Axumin is an FDA-approved scan that can achieve early detection of recurrent prostate cancer following surgery or radiation.

Through a partnership with The Cooper Foundation, the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey (GSCSNJ), and Brimm Medical Arts High School in Camden, 20 Camden students visited MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper on Thursday, February 28, 2019, for a behind the scenes look at STEM-related careers.

Cooper Teams Step Up for Cathedral Kitchen in Camden

On Wednesday, February 27, 2019, volunteers from Cooper’s Innovative Delivery Care Management and Community Health teams stepped up to the plate and into the kitchen for Cathedral Kitchen. Together, the teams spent their lunch time making 397 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the organization, which is the largest emergency food provider in Camden.

As a highly skilled breast cancer surgeon, public speaker, educator, community leader, and mother of two boys, Dr. Vivian Jolley Bea is a tireless advocate for under-served populations, determined to work toward the elimination of racial disparities in health care.

Following a highly competitive breast surgical oncology fellowship program at the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Dr. Bea joined the breast surgical oncology team at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper in 2017 where she can be found working with patients through our women’s cancer, breast cancer, dense breast, and rare cancer programs, among others. Cooper University Health Care Releases 2018 EMS Service Results

For the third consecutive year, Cooper University Health Care’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the City of Camden has responded to more emergency calls and done so with exceptional response times. Since Cooper EMS began providing service in January 2016, emergency calls have increased by 21 percent. In 2018, Cooper EMS responded within eight minutes 90 percent of the time for all advanced life support (ALS) calls. Read more.

Richard Selznick, PhD, licensed psychologist and Director of the Cooper Learning Center at Cooper University Health Care, addresses learning disorders in his latest book, “What to Do About Dyslexia: 25 Essential Points for Parents.” Drawing on his decades of experience in helping children who struggle with reading, spelling, and writing, Dr. Selznick has written a series of books to help parents who often feel at a loss as to how to help a child who may be struggling with these learning fundamentals and where to turn for guidance. Cooper Team Preps 325 Sandwiches for Cathedral Kitchen

Our Cooper employees are always giving back to the community!

Recently team members from the Transitional Care, Infection Prevention, and Regulatory Safety departments prepared 325 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the Cathedral Kitchen. Our Cooper Team also delivered supplies for them to stock the pantry with peanut butter and jelly.

Special thanks to Chantay Harris, a population health coach in the Transitional Care Department, who was able to secure a significant donation from Shop Rite of Lawnside for the sandwiches. Read more.
