Cooper 2 Joins Life-Saving Air Medical Transport Service

Cooper University Health Care has expanded its life-saving air medical transport service to the South Jersey community with the addition of a new helicopter. Cooper has been providing this vital service to residents of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem counties since 2010.

First six months of naloxone initiative yielding impactful results during public health crisis

Seven months ago, the Freeholder Board, Camden County Chief’s Association, and healthcare providers came to the table with a plan to fund the life-saving tool, naloxone, for all police officers in the county. Since that time more than 480 naloxone reversals were deployed county-wide providing a critical antidote to the fatal effects of an opioid induced overdose.

Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli lauded the healthcare systems for tearing down the obstacles to get access to this life saving antidote and applauded the officers on the street administering it. Read more.

Cooper Honors Nurse with DAISY Award

Cooper University Health Care recently recognized Chevron Johnson, RN, of Pennsauken, NJ, with the DAISY Award for providing exceptional nursing care. Chevron work on the Pavilion 6 Surgical Intermediate unit.

The DAISY Award, established by The DAISY Foundation, is an international program that celebrates the extraordinary care given by nurses every day. It is presented in collaboration with the American Organization of Nurse Executives. Read more.

Breast Cancer Patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Are Benefiting From the Generosity of Local Knitters

A South Jersey group of knitters is teaming up with Cooper University Health Care to help women diagnosed with breast cancer. As affiliates of Knitted Knockers, a nationwide non-profit, the volunteers are creating hand-knitted prosthetic breasts for women who have undergone mastectomies or other breast procedures.

In the past year, the group has provided more than 50 sets, which come in a variety of sizes and colors, to patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care Opens Expanded Emergency Department

Today, Cooper University Health Care opened a new 5,500 square-foot addition to its Emergency Department (ED) featuring 10 state-of-the-art exam rooms that will improve the patient experience and reduce wait times.

“Cooper has one of the busiest emergency departments in the region as the only Level 1 Trauma Center in South Jersey, this addition will help us better serve our community and improve the patient experience in the ED,” said  Kevin O’Dowd, JD, co-president of Cooper University Health Care. Cooper Cardiologist Named Medical Director of Cardiac Services at Premier Cadbury of Cherry Hill

Fredric L. Ginsberg, MD, FACC, FACCP, a clinical cardiologist and co-medical director of the Cooper Heart Institute, has been named medical director of cardiac services at Premier Cadbury of Cherry Hill.  Premier Cadbury is a continuing care retirement community that offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, and sub-acute rehabilitation, as well as long-term care.

Cooper Employees Fan Out Across Camden, South Jersey for Day of Service

WHAT: More than 90 doctors, nurses, administrative leaders, and allied health professionals from Cooper University Health Care will fan out across eight different sites in Camden, Burlington, Gloucester counties for a day of community service. Cooper employees will work in community gardens, prepare meals at the Cathedral Kitchen, help out at an animal shelter, and organize donations at a food pantry among others. Read more.

American Heart Association and Amerigroup Foundation Donate 500 Infant CPR Training Kits to Cooper Health

Tools equip new parents with CPR and choking relief skills to use in emergencies.

The American Heart Association (AHA) with the support from the Amerigroup Foundation has donated 500 Infant CPR Anytime® kits to Cooper University Health Care for use in training new parents on emergency lifesaving techniques. Cooper will provide the Infant CPR Anytime kits to parents whose babies are discharged from the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and will be the first hospital in New Jersey to offer the Infant CPR Anytime training on their telehealth patient portal.
