On December 1, 2021, the Cooper Infectious Disease and Early Intervention Program and Center for Healing teams collaborated with the Camden County Police Department to commemorate World AIDS Day with a community memorial walk and health fair in Camden. Cooper University Health Care pediatric emergency room physician, Jonathan Reisman, MD, ponders life, culture and the natural world through the lens of anatomy and medicine in a recently published book, The Unseen Body: A Doctor’s Journey Through the Hidden Wonders of Human Anatomy.

As a physician, adventure traveler, and naturalist, Dr. Reisman share new perspectives on the body through personal experiences and travels to exotic locations such as the Arctic region and the Himalayas among others. Read more.

The Cardiac Partners at Cooper and Inspira team recently became the first in the Northeast Region to implant Abbott’s Amplatzer Amulet left atrial appendage (LAA) occluder, a new device recently approved by the FDA to treat patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib) who are also at risk of ischemic stroke.

Lt. Antonio Ellis, a Manchester Township police officer, was among the first severe COVID-19 cases in New Jersey in mid-March 2020. After more than a year of recovery, Officer Ellis returned to Cooper University Health Care triumphantly on Monday, November 22 to thank the team of caregivers who saved his life.

More than 100 Cooper team members including the critical care doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for him during his long battle with COVID-19 greeted Officer Ellis and his wife, Carla, with celebratory cheers. Read more.
