More Than 1,800 Backpacks and School Supplies Donated Through The Cooper Foundation’s Operation Backpack
Learning in the age of COVID-19 presents many challenges to school systems, teachers, students and their families, but thanks to employees at Cooper University Health Care and The Cooper Foundation, 1,800 Camden students will not have to worry about school supplies. Whether in a school building or at home, students need supplies and backpacks, and Cooper employees and The Cooper Foundation were determined to make sure that a pandemic did not get in the way of this year’s Operation Backpack. Subaru of America, Inc. has donated a new vehicle to Cooper University Health Care to expand its Emergency Medical Services (EMS) fleet. The 2020 Subaru Ascent SUV will be used by Cooper Emergency Medical Services physicians in the community as back-up support for Cooper’s Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) units responding to 911 calls.

Cooper University Health Care has received as generous donation of more than 1,000 pairs of shoes thanks to Boston-based streetwear and sneaker retailer Concepts as part of the national “Sneakers for Heroes” program. The shoes will benefit Cooper’s medical residents and fellows.
Sneakers for Heroes is an initiative to distribute free footwear to medical professionals fighting on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more.
The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has recognized Cooper University Health Care for its demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients receiving transcatheter valve repair and replacement procedures with ACC Transcatheter Valve Certification. Cooper is the first and only hospital in the Delaware Valley to be awarded this certification.

Cooper University Health Care has been awarded the designation of Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence by the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Cooper is one of 101 programs nationwide to have received the designation since the program’s launch in 2017.
Designated hospitals like Cooper have created stewardship programs led by Infectious Disease-trained physicians and pharmacists that advance science in Antimicrobial Resistance and have achieved standards aligned with evidence-based national guidelines such as the IDSA-SHEA guidelines and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Core Elements.
