Today, members of our EMS team assisted volunteers and veterans in placing flags at the graves of hundreds of veterans at the Camden County Veterans Cemetery, located inside Harleigh Cemetery in Camden, NJ. Read more.
Over 80 primary care physicians, specialists, advanced practice providers, and other allied health professionals gathered on Wednesday, May 24, to learn about the most current cancer screening and risk reduction recommendations to share with their patients. This Continuing Medical Education (CME) event was co-sponsored by MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, Cooper University Health Care, Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection (NJCEED) program, and the Burlington Camden County Regional Chronic Disease Coalition. The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper hosted a Health Fair for children from the Veterans Memorial Family School in Camden. The students learned about water safety, gun safety, nutrition, hand washing, the importance of exercise, asthma triggers and treatments. Healthy snacks were provided by Food Bank of South Jersey.

Cooper University Health Care recently recognized Meghann Thornton, RN, of Medford Lakes with the DAISY Award for providing exceptional nursing care. Meghann works as a nurse in Cooper’s Progressive Care Unit.

Governor Chris Christie, five former governors, numerous elected officials and nearly 30 members of the Sheridan family joined Cooper University Health Care leaders today for the unveiling ceremony of Sheridan Pavilion at Three Cooper Plaza in honor of the former president and CEO of the health care system. Mr. Sheridan joined Cooper in 2005 and served as president and CEO of The Cooper Health System from 2008 until his and his wife’s death in 2014. Read more.
Would you know how to “Stop the Bleed” if your loved one had a deep laceration causing severe bleeding?
Cooper University Health Care’s EMS Outreach coordinators, in collaboration with the Cooper Trauma Department, will offer free Stop the Bleed training to community organizations, businesses, or agencies as part of a national initiative aimed at putting knowledge gained by first responders and the military into the hands of the public to help save lives during times of disaster. There are many moms who will be spending their Mother’s Day in the hospital this year – recovering from their own illness or at the side of a loved one. The Lauren Rose Albert Foundation/Mother’s Matter Program is helping these women feel special by donating gift baskets to mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers who are hospitalized or have a family member hospitalized at Cooper University Health Care.
