Two Important Leadership Changes at Cooper

Two important leadership changes have been made as Cooper continues to improve our core operations, further our strategic plan, and respond to prevailing health care trends in order to continue our growth.

The first leadership change is aimed at building a consistent, superior patient experience in our ambulatory practices. This will be critical to our future success as the trend toward outpatient care continues to grow.

Kim Bass and Margie Outler have done great work in improving and standardizing ambulatory office operations. To integrate the significant progress they have made with the success of our outpatient cancer center operations, we are creating a new senior dyad leadership for Ambulatory Operations with Eric E. Kupersmith, MD, Senior Vice President and Chief Physician Executive, and Christine Winn, FACHE, Senior Vice President of MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper.

Christine Winn will retain her dyad leadership role with Generosa Grana, MD, at MD Anderson at Cooper, and Kim Bass and Margie Outler will report to her in this expanded role. As part of this new dyad relationship, Dr. Kupersmith will continue to serve as a bridge between ambulatory operations, institute leadership, and our faculty practice.

The second leadership change is designed to strengthen our role as a leading academic health system by increasing focus on our research and training efforts. Lisa Laphan-Morad, RN, MSN, Vice President of Operations at MD Anderson at Cooper, will assume the role of Vice President of Education and Research and provide additional leadership for our increasingly complex and expanding training and research programs.

Lisa Laphan-Morad will be a dyad partner with Antoinette (Toni) Spevetz, MD, our Designated Internal Officer, who oversees our postgraduate medical, surgical, and specialty education for more than 300 residents and fellows. Additionally, Lisa will also partner with R. Phillip Dellinger, MD, who chairs our Cooper Research Institute and oversees the IRB, grants office, and coordinator work. Lisa, Toni, and Phil will continue to report to Dr. Kupersmith and Dean Annette C. Reboli, MD, of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.

Please join us in congratulating and supporting our leaders in their enhanced roles.
