Please join us as we discuss caring for individuals across the autism spectrum, across the lifespan. Delivering sound and compassionate care to those on the spectrum can be challenging, especially because the spectrum is so broad and so any two people with an autism diagnosis can present very differently and with different needs. Our panelists will discuss a variety of topics, ranging from the ways in which individuals and families of individuals on the spectrum can face significant roadblocks when they are seeking initial diagnosis, to obtaining routine medical care for themselves and their loved ones with autism, and the experience of needing to go the emergency room. Time will also be spent discussing how we can best advocate for a medical system that embraces the concept of neurodiversity. The overarching goal is to promote learning, and so open discussion is strongly encouraged.
