Year-End Appointments Could Mean Significant Savings

A new year means new deductibles. It’s time to schedule your doctor’s appointment to take full advantage of your health insurance benefits.

October is wrapping up with Halloween and trick or treats, and the busy holiday season begins. In the midst of holiday preparations, we tend to put off scheduling doctors’ appointments, but this may be a good time to do so. In addition to looking after your health, getting in to see the doctor now could make good financial sense as well.

Each new year means new health insurance deductibles. If you have met your deductible amount for this year and you have been putting off a needed doctor’s visit for yourself or a family member, save yourself out-of-pocket costs and schedule a visit before the end of the year. Once your deductible is met, your health care appointments, procedures, and tests may be covered in full. Come January, you will have new deductibles and out-of-pocket costs for that doctor’s visit. Why not take care of your health now and save money at the same time?

Here are some additional and important health care reminders:

Schedule your annual physical with your primary care provider. Staying on top of your health is important and your primary care provider (physician or nurse practitioner) will help you stay healthy and manage any medical conditions. Most health insurance plans cover the full cost of your annual checkup cost (confirm with your insurance company).

Get screened. Preventive screenings can detect health issues early, when they are easier to treat and before they develop into serious conditions. Your primary care provider will make sure you have the appropriate screenings such as a mammogram, colonoscopy, or DEXA scan.
