Rohit A Patel, MD, FACS

Our bariatric surgery team is led by Dr. Rohit Patel. As director of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Center in Voorhees, NJ, Dr. Patel has twice been named to the list of “Best Doctors” from South Jersey Magazine. His specialties include Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery and vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG), which are some of today’s most effective weight-loss procedures.

Working with Dr. Patel, you’ll find a team of experienced surgeons, advanced practice nurses, and other professionals, all working hard to ensure that your experience is as satisfying as possible.

Our Bariatric Team’s Mission

With minimally invasive procedures, high-quality tools and practices, and a special emphasis on safety, the goal of our bariatric surgery team is to greatly improve your quality of life. These are the steps that they follow.

Providing Comprehensive Testing for Weight-Loss Surgery

Your journey with our bariatric team will begin with a consultation. You’ll meet with one of our surgeons to discuss the options available to you. From there, our staff will contact your primary care doctor to facilitate testing, which may be medical or psychological. They’ll make sure that weight-loss surgery is the best option for you.

Performing Minimally Invasive Surgery

Statistically, more than 90% of people with severe obesity will lose, at minimum, half of their excess weight after bariatric surgery. Such results can help to alleviate or resolve pre-existing conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, and hypertension.

Impressively, these important goals can be achieved through minimally invasive surgery, which typically offers rapid recovery. You may find that you’re back to your regular routine before you know it.

Facilitating Well-Rounded Follow-up Care

To ensure that the road to recovery is smooth, our team will provide you with a well-rounded aftercare experience. They’ll make sure that you have:

  • Regular check-ups
  • Individualized exercise plans
  • Nutritional consultations
  • One-on-one counseling
  • Monthly support group meetings

Physicians and advanced practice nurses are available around-the-clock to answer your post-op questions whenever they may arise!
