Cooper “Lights It Up Blue” for Autism Awareness Month in April

As the incidence of autism continues to increase, The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper is teaming up with Autism Speaks to promote Autism Awareness Month by illuminating the hospital blue. During April 1 and April 2, blue lighting will be seen in front of Cooper’s Pavilion in support of individuals with autism and their families.

Cooper University Hospital recently undertook a multi-phase device integration project that resulted in the connection of more than 200 devices to the hospital’s Epic clinical information system. As a result, Cooper is experiencing improved access to patient data, decreased charting time for nurses and increased time for direct care.

Physician’s Gift to Fund Clinical Simulation Rooms at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University

A generous gift from a prominent South Jersey physician and his family will help aspiring doctors receive a state-of-the-art education in patient treatment at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU). Dr. Michael Renzi, of Haddonfield, will fund The Renzi Family Clinical Simulation Rooms at CMSRU, for an amount the family wishes not to publicly disclose.

Dr. Grewal joins Cooper from Temple University School of Medicine where he served as the Chief, Section of Pediatric Surgery and Professor of Surgery. During his time at Temple, Dr. Grewal also served as the Medical Director of Pediatric Trauma, Director of the Surgical Skills Laboratory, attending surgeon at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and staff consultant for Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

Women's Health & Environmental Network (WHEN) has released the Healthcare's Harvest: Seeding Sustainability in Hospital Kitchens recipe collection to coincide with National Nutrition Month. The kickoff event, held in October 2010, included demonstrations by hospital chefs demonstrating recipes utilizing sustainable, organic ingredients.

Cooper University Hospital welcomes Eli T. Winkler as Senior Vice President for Growth and Development. He joins Cooper most recently from McKinsey and Company, a global strategy consulting company, where he was a manager of a wide range of projects including international mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, strategic positioning and major investments.
