For the past several years, Cooper University Health Care and MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper have partnered with Trinity Presbyterian Church in Cherry Hill to present a health lecture to congregants during the month of October. Although the pandemic prohibited us from having an in-person seminar this year, we were able to use online technology to continue this important annual program. Read more.

This week, actor Jeff Bridges announced that he was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and is undergoing treatment. While many people are familiar with lung, breast, and colorectal cancers, they may not know as much about lymphoma.

Lymphoma is a cancer that starts in cells called lymphocytes that are part of the body’s immune system. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell found in the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, bone marrow, and almost every other organ of the body. Read more.

Odiraa Nwankwor, MD, MPH, a pediatric intensivist at Cooper University Health Care and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Cooper Medical School, is leading an initiative to help establish pediatric intensive units in Nigeria.

Dr. Nwankwor, a Nigerian native and the Founder of Health Place for Children Initiative, developed the “Nigeria Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) Project” as part of Cooper’s Global Health program to bring medical equipment, guidance, and hand-on training to hospitals throughout that country. Christopher J. Moore, BS, CMD, a Medical Dosimetrist at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, received the prestigious 2020 Radiation Therapy Empower Award presented by Beekley Medical, a Connecticut-based manufacturer of medical devices.

Beekley Medical established its Empower Award as a national initiative to recognize professionals in various cancer care disciplines for their efforts to improve care for patients and their families. Read more.

On Monday, July 20, six-year-old Lily Cuticchia of Haddon Township, NJ visited Cooper University Health Care to donate nearly 1,200 pairs of new socks she collected for patients in Cooper’s emergency department and addiction medicine programs.  Representatives from both departments were on hand to accept the donations.

When Lily’s mom began working at Cooper University Health Care last fall, she took a keen interest in her mother’s job in the Addiction Medicine Department. Read more.
