More Than 2,200 Backpacks and School Supplies Donated Through The Cooper Foundation’s Operation Backpack

CAMDEN, N.J. — The Cooper Foundation, along with city officials and school leaders, today distributed backpacks and school supplies to every student at KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy (KCNA) Lanning Square Primary and Middle School campus and KCNA Whittier Middle School in Bergen Square. ICU Nurse Recognized With DAISY Award at Cooper

Cooper University Health Care recently recognized Jennifer Orr, RN, of Collingswood, NJ, with the DAISY Award for providing exceptional nursing care. Orr is a nurse in Cooper’s Intensive Care Unit.

Orr was nominated by Mary Jane Durkin, MSN, RN, OCN, an oncology clinical educator at Cooper, following a hospitalization.

“She never assumed because I was a nurse, that I knew everything,” said Durkin who has since recovered from coronary bypass surgery. Read more.

Cooper Physician Receives Influencer of Healthcare Award

Stephen W. Trzeciak, MD, MPH, was one of 27 awardees to receive The Philadelphia Inquirer’s 2019 Influencer of Healthcare Award at a ceremony August 15, 2019. This award program honors Philadelphia’s most influential health care professionals.

Dr. Trzeciak is a physician scientist, professor and chair of medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU), and the chief of medicine at Cooper University Health Care. Read more.

Coalition of Regional Academic Health Organizations Wins Bid for Hahnemann Residency Program

Christiana Care, Cooper, Einstein, Jefferson, Main Line and Temple join together to preserve physician education and patient care

PHILADELPHIA (August 9, 2019) — Six mission-driven, nonprofit academic health organizations across Greater Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley won a collective bid for the physician residency program at Hahnemann University Hospital.

The move ensures access to patient care services—especially for the underserved—and stabilizes the education of hundreds of residents who will be the region’s healthcare providers of the future. Read more.

Leaders From Throughout Cooper Volunteer with Cathedral Kitchen in Camden

On June 20, 2019, leadership from Cooper’s Adult Health Institute, Urban Health Institute, Women and Children’s Institute, Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine joined together for a day of service at Cathedral Kitchen.

The group met up at the CK Café first to have lunch together. After a tour and learning about their services, they gathered to start some food prep and set up the room for dinner service. Read more.

Cooper Volunteers Support Special Olympics New Jersey

On Sunday, June 9, 2019, Cooper Physical Therapy Manager Albert J. Guarini, PT, DPT, MTC, and some of Cooper’s outpatient rehab staff volunteered at the Special Olympics New Jersey, which was held at the College of New Jersey. The team participated in the FUNfitness group for healthy athletes proving flexibility, strength, and balance screenings for the athletes competing that day. Cooper Receives Award from NJ Sharing Network

Once again Cooper University Health Care has achieved Platinum Level – which is the highest level awarded by the NJ Sharing Network, our partner in organ donation. NJ Sharing Network is the non-profit organization responsible for the recovery and placement of donated organs and tissue for those in need of a life-saving transplant. Nearly 4,000 New Jersey residents are currently awaiting transplantation. Read more.
