Leading academic health system to extend Nuance DAX to 475 physicians based on success of initial deployment in prioritizing patient experiences, reducing administrative workloads, and improving clinical documentation

BURLINGTON, Mass. and CAMDEN, N.J., August 30, 2021 – Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN) and Cooper University Health Care (Cooper) today announced a strategic collaboration to expand Cooper’s deployment of the Nuance® Dragon Ambient eXperience™ (DAX™) ambient clinical intelligence (ACI) solution to 475 physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs). Carman Ciervo, DO, has been named chief physician executive of Cooper Care Alliance (CCA), Cooper University Health Care’s community-based physician group.

Formed in 2020, CCA, a community-based physician group, is the health system’s second physician group along with the 800-member Cooper University Physicians (CUP) group, South Jersey’s largest physician group. Andrea M. Russo, MD, FACC, FHRS, FAHA, a cardiologist and director of the electrophysiology and arrhythmia service at Cooper University Health Care and professor of medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, was appointed to the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Cardiovascular Specialty Board.

Cooper University Health Care and the Philadelphia 76ers have teamed up to renovate and upgrade the basketball court at Dominick Andujar Park in Camden as part of a community partnership between the two organizations. The basketball court rebuild is one of a number of initiatives the two organizations have teamed up together to support families in the City of Camden.

Nearly 950 team members in the Environmental Services, Food and Nutrition, Transport, Security and Maintenance departments, along with staff members at MD Anderson at Cooper, received a care package containing numerous gift cards to local retail stores and restaurants as well as transportation vouchers. Cooper University Health Care’s Digestive Health Institute has received the 2021 Flame Award for Unit Excellence from the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA). The award recognizes units for their commitment to infection prevention, providing a supportive and educational work environment for staff, and achieving positive patient outcomes.

The multidisciplinary team of cardiac experts from Cooper University Health Care’s Structural Heart Disease Program recently performed the 1000^th TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement) procedure. The procedure was successfully performed on a 71-year-old South Jersey man.
