World-class vascular neurosurgeon Brian Jankowitz, MD, recently joined Cooper University Health Care as a member of the Cooper Neurological Institute, announced Tudor G. Jovin, MD, Chief and Chairman of the Cooper Neurological Institute.
Prior to joining Cooper, Dr. Jankowitz was associate professor of neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and served as faculty of the UPMC Neurosurgery Department and UPMC Stroke Institute where he specialized in both open and endovascular neurosurgery. Read more.

Since its founding in 2011, this annual event has raised more than $1 million to support lung cancer research at MD Anderson at Cooper, South Jersey’s most comprehensive resource for the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. Read more.
Cooper University Health Care Chairman George E. Norcross III announced that the health system, through The Cooper Foundation, has established a Bahamian Relief Fund to provide support to those affected by Hurricane Dorian that devastated the island nation last week. In the past few years, Cooper employees have contributed over $45,000 for hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico and Houston following Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Harvey. Read more.
A potential complication of traditional vascular surgery and stenting for stroke prevention in patients with carotid artery disease is the risk of a stroke occurring during the procedure itself. Vascular surgeons at Cooper University Health Care are now performing a new, advanced minimally invasive technique to deliver a stent into a blocked artery while reducing the risk of stroke. Staffed by internal medicine physician Juan S. Utreras, MD, and advanced practice nurse Myanh Nguyen, RN, APN, the practice will provide expert primary care services including annual check-ups, preventive health screenings, unscheduled “sick” visits, medication management, and more for residents of Runnemede and the surrounding communities.
