Today, The Cooper Foundation and Cooper University Health Care spread some holiday cheer by helping numerous community leaders and volunteers deliver 1,900 Thanksgiving meals to senior citizens across the City of Camden who otherwise would not be able to get out and enjoy the holiday due to COVID.

Recognizing that seniors and others could not travel outside their homes, Cooper, community partners and others devised an innovative way to prepare and deliver meals in a safe manner, so that our most vulnerable could enjoy Thanksgiving in a COVID-safe environment. Read more.

1000 turkeys distributed through network of community organizations

George E. Norcross III, chairman of the Board of Trustee at Cooper University Health Care announced that the health system has kicked-off the holiday season by donating 1,000 turkeys to community groups, faith-based organizations, and the South Jersey Food Bank to benefit Camden residents.

The turkeys were distributed on November 21 to a wide network of community groups for distribution to residents in need in time for Thanksgiving. Read more.

Yesenia “Yesi´ Santiago, a non-medical case manager for Cooper University Health Care’s Early Intervention Program (EIP), was honored with the Cooper Heroism Award for saving a man’s life in the community during the summer. Cooper Co-CEOs Kevin O’Dowd and Anthony Mazzarelli presented the award to Yesi during a recent ceremony.

Cooper University Health Care honored Karen Gruber, RN, AVP of Nursing Operations, and Joseph Milton, an orthopedic technician with the Cooper Bone & Joint Institute, with its 2020 Cooper Military Employee of the Year Award.

Cooper University Health Care in conjunction with the Camden County Freeholder Board and Camden County Health Department will open a new drive-up COVID-19 testing site on the Cherry Hill Campus of Camden County College beginning Thursday, November 12, 2020. As cases continue to rise in the county and state, this new site will allow more people to get tested for COVID-19. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care has expanded its comprehensive military training program, one of the most extensive military training programs in the nation, by collaborating with the U.S. Navy to provide clinical rotations to Navy senior anesthesia medical residents.

The program will provide a two-month visiting clinical rotation for Navy senior anesthesia medical residents currently receiving their training at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center in Virginia. Read more.

Patients Can Now Be Treated with the Latest Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) Technology Using Alto® Abdominal Stent Graft System

Cooper University Health Care is now treating Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) patients with the ALTO® Abdominal Stent Graft System. On October 6, 2020, Jeffrey Carpenter, MD, Chairman and Chief, Department of Surgery and vascular surgeon performed an implant of the ALTO device in a patient on at Cooper, the first in the region. Cooper University Health Care is the second healthcare system in the country to begin using the Heroes Health wellness app. The app was developed recently by a team led by the UNC Institute for Trauma Recovery with the help of Google Cloud, to better support the mental health of frontline workers and first responders.

The app is primarily designed to support first responders and COVID workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Read more.

For the past several years, Cooper University Health Care and MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper have partnered with Trinity Presbyterian Church in Cherry Hill to present a health lecture to congregants during the month of October.
