Cooper University Health Care is sponsoring a Fall Fest, a celebration to mark the grand opening of Cooper Family Medicine and Behavioral Health Offices, Saturday, September 24, 2016, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the Camden County College campus, 200 College Drive, Polk Hall, Blackwood, NJ.

In addition to games, music, and cooking demonstrations by the Food Bank of South Jersey, activities include the opportunity to meet the clinical staff, tour the facility, and receive a variety of health screenings. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care recently recognized cardiac care unit nurse Alyson Karbach, RN, of Sicklerville, NJ, with the DAISY Award for providing exceptional care.

Karbach was nominated by the daughter of an elderly patient who described Karbach as “very caring, empathetic, and supportive while my father struggled with low blood pressure episodes which frightened him greatly. All of the Cooper nurses were excellent, but she was a calming presence and really stood out.” Read more.

To meet the growth in the number of patients seeking surgery, Cooper University Health Care has opened four new operating rooms since May, increasing its total number of operating rooms to 23. The newest three state-of-the-art operating rooms opened last week.

On August 16, 2016, executives from Subaru of America’s corporate headquarters and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) along with representatives from Subaru of Cherry Hill delivered messages of hope and 150 specially made blankets to MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper to help encourage patients and keep them warm as they continue their fight against cancer.

On Thursday, July 28, 2016, students participating in the Cooper Learning Center Summer Reading Institute shared their reading skills with guests, sponsors and representatives from Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper at an Open House event.

Now in its 11th year, the six-week program Summer Reading Institute helps grade school children stay academically connected through a  fun and friendly summer camp-like program. Read more.

Event to be held August 1-7, 2016, in Springfield, PA

Cooper University Health Care will serve as the medical services provider at the 2016 U.S. Women’s Amateur Golf Championship. This national championship, conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA), will be held August 1-7, 2016, at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, PA.

Cooper emergency physicians, nurses, and physical therapists, coordinated through the Cooper Bone & Joint Institute and Cooper’s Emergency Services Department, will staff an on-site medical tent and be available to provide emergency and routine care to players and spectators as needed throughout the seven-day event. Cooper University Health Care recognized pediatric nurse Rachel McCormick, RN, of Mount Laurel, NJ, with the DAISY Award for providing exceptional care. Rachel was nominated by the parents of a young patient who was hospitalized at Cooper for several days. “From the time we stepped on the unit, Rachel made the entire experience so trouble free,” said the patient’s father. “She is a very professional and knowledgeable individual who shows that she has great pride in her profession as a nurse.”
