Colonoscopies Save Lives

Colorectal cancer almost always develops from abnormal growths (polyps) in the colon or rectum. A colonoscopy can find polyps, so they can be removed before they turn into cancer. Colonoscopy also can find colorectal cancer early, when treatment works best.

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper and the American Cancer Society recommend that average-risk men and women begin colorectal cancer screenings at age 50. Read more.

American Cancer Society, MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper unite elected officials and South Jersey community leaders in the fight against colorectal cancer

Leaders sign pledge for national “80% x 2018” colorectal cancer screening campaign.

With a swipe of a pen, South Jersey community leaders made history today as they announced their commitment to implement changes within their individual organizations that will increase colorectal cancer screening in Camden and surrounding areas.

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 135,000 people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in the United States this year, and over 50,000 will die from the disease. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care Joins Forces With More Than 500 Local and National Organizations to Increase Colorectal Cancer Screenings Rates Across the Country “80% by 2018” is a shared goal to have 80 percent of adults aged 50 and older regularly screened for colorectal cancer by 2018.

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper received a $100,000 Screening/ Treatment Grant from the Susan G. Komen Philadelphia® Community Grants Program to fund its Cancer Community Outreach Screening Program, which focuses on outreach, awareness and screening for breast and other cancers.
