Your Cell Phone Number Could Save Your Life

The gun violence events in our region and in other parts of the country over the last several weeks cause us to be reminded of our shared responsibility to keep each other, and our patients, safe at all of our Cooper facilities. In light of recent events, we ask that you please review Cooper’s Active Shooter Policy (click here for Policy #4.421), which provides an overview of what to do in the event of an active shooter at a Cooper facility.

In addition, if you have not done so, please add your cell phone number into Lawson to ensure you receive text message alerts in the case of an active shooting event. Simply put, providing your cell phone number could save your life. To enter your cell phone number, click here. On the landing page, expand the Employee Self Service folder, expand the Personal Information folder, and then click on Contact Numbers.

We also encourage you to watch the video “Run, Hide, Fight” produced by the Managed Emergency Surge for Healthcare Coalition, which shows you what to do in the case of an active shooter event. Click here for the video.

One of the most important ways we can keep our Cooper facilities safe is by speaking up. If you see something that does not seem right, please say something.
