Update on Styrofoam Use at Cooper

Cooper University Health Care has taken significant steps to reduce our carbon footprint by using biodegradable products whenever possible. However, in order to adhere to infection prevention requirements during the pandemic, we will continue to use Styrofoam containers in our COVID-19 units. Because specific safety protocols must be followed when delivering meals to COVID-19 patients, using Styrofoam will also help ensure that the meals remain warm during the delivery process.

Patients who are not in the COVID-19 units will continue to receive their meals in biodegradable containers. Cooper will also continue to use biodegradable products in the Cooper Court Cafeteria and several ambulatory sites, including:

  • MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper – Lobby café
  • Sheridan Pavilion – First floor café
  • 900 Centennial Boulevard, Building One, Voorhees – Lobby café
  • Cooper Specialty Care at Cherry Hill – Lobby café
