February is Heart Month, which is a good reminder to focus on heart disease, the number one cause of death among both men and women. For women, who often neglect their own health needs to care for their families, Heart Month is a good time to review ways to reduce their risk of heart disease. This is especially important during the pandemic because many of us have changed our normal exercise routines,  social activities, and even health care visits.

Seek emergency medical care if you have these signs and symptoms of heart disease:

  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fainting

Always call 911 or seek emergency medical care if you think you might be having a heart attack.

Our program is staffed with the largest and most diverse team of female cardiologists in South Jersey. Each physician is uniquely qualified in all aspects of heart care, including general cardiac care, high-risk pregnancy, heart arrhythmia, cancer, congestive heart failure, heart attack, and cardiac rehabilitation.Heart disease may occur at any time in a woman’s life: a diagnosis of high blood pressure during pregnancy, a heart arrhythmia in mid-life, postmenopausal shifts in cholesterol, or a heart attack or congestive heart failure later in life. CardiacPartners at Cooper and Inspira has designed the Women’s Heart Health program to meet the needs of busy women like you.

“Our cardiologists are extraordinarily attuned to the physical and emotional needs of their patients—developing individualized, patient-family centered plans to achieve cardiac health,” says Kathleen Heintz, DO, Cooper Cardiologist and Cardiac Partners at Cooper and Inspira member.  “We look at our job as helping to prevent disease and lower the risk for our patients and preventing that potential heart attack from happening.”

From detection to testing, treatment, and rehabilitation, Cardiac Partners at Cooper and Inspira provides women with access to efficient, high-quality cardiac care in locations conveniently located throughout South Jersey. Our team of female cardiologists is here to help – year round, not just during Heart Month.

Managing risk factors with expert guidance can help prevent heart disease and related complications. Here are the top five risk factors for heart disease in both women and men:

  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol level
  • Smoking
  • Family history of heart disease
  • Diabetes

If you have any of these risk factors, be sure to discuss them with a Cardiac Partners cardiologist or primary care physician.

I watched Cooper’s program several months ago, and I met you several years ago when you presented at the Mansion. I was so impressed with the fact that you called me the next day to answer a question that was not answered the night of the program due to time. I have one question that I don’t feel comfortable leaving on this email. I need a cardiologist who I hope I can have a meaningful, comfortable partnership with for the next 10 years, heaven permitting!I know you are extremely busy, but would you be able and willing to spend no more than 5 minutes to speak with me?
