Cooper University Health Care Physician Named Prestigious 2020 Bloomberg Fellow

Cooper University Health Care physician Matthew S. Salzman, MD, has been named one of the prestigious 2020 Bloomberg Fellows by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Dr. Salzman is one of only 50 master of public health fellows (MPH) and eight doctor in public health (DPH) fellows from 27 states, and Washington, D.C., in the 2020 cohort. The 2020 Bloomberg Fellows will receive extensive public health training to tackle critical health issues across the country. Read more.

George E. Norcross, III, the chairman of the Cooper Board of Trustees and founder of the Norcross Foundation, and Phillip A. Norcross, the chair of The Cooper Foundation, announced the two Foundations will begin distributing more than 175,000 reusable and washable fabric facemasks to patients, employees, and the members of its community to reduce the spread of COVID-19 tomorrow. Cooper University Health Care has received a $500,000 grant from Lockheed Martin to purchase critically needed personal protective equipment (PPE), including N95 respirators, surgical masks, gloves, gowns, and eye protection for employees on the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19.

Today, Thursday, May 14, 2020, Cooper Medical School of Rowan University celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2020.  We congratulate the 79 graduates who earned medical degrees from CMSRU, our the fifth and largest graduating class since CMSRU opened in 2013. To date, 326 students have graduated from the school.

During their four years at CMSRU, the Class of 2020 performed many impressive community-based projects that directly supported residents of Camden. Read more.

EMS Flight Nurse Named 2020 Cooper Nurse of the Year

Cooper University Health Care has named Steven Teitelman, RN, BSN, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, as the 2020 Nurse of the Year. Teitelman, a flight nurse coordinator with Cooper’s Air Medical Services, also received the Barbara and Jack Tarditi Award for Excellence in Nursing Mentorship Award as part of Cooper’s Annual Nursing Excellence Awards presented during National Nurses’ Week (May 6-12).
