MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Approved by Society of Surgical Oncology to Establish a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper has received a three-year approval to establish a new Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program by the Society of Surgical Oncology, one of fewer than 50 programs in the nation.

Study failed to confirm benefit of novel treatment used in many countries worldwide

The results of a five-year,  international multicenter trial studying the efficacy of a “blood purification” technique to treat sepsis has been published today in The Journal of the American Medical Association, a leading medical journal. Cooper University Health Care First in the Region to Implant Next-Generation WATCHMAN FLX(TM) Device

Cooper is one of approximately 40 sites in the United States and the only hospital in the Philadelphia region participating in a clinical trial for Boston Scientific’s WATCHMAN FLX™ device. The WATCHMAN FLX™ is the next generation of a potentially life-changing catheter-based (or non-surgically delivered) device designed to close the left atrial appendage in order to reduce the risk of stroke in certain patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib). Cooper Resident Lourdes Alanis Shares Interventional Radiology “Day in the Life”

On Friday, September 28, 2018, Lourdes Alanis, a fourth-year resident with Cooper’s Diagnostic Radiology program, gave Instagram followers a look into the world of interventional radiology (IR). This opportunity was provided by the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), which highlighted six women in IR as part of a social media campaign in September celebrating Women in Medicine Month. Cooper Team Comes Through for #OperationBackpack

On Wednesday, August 29, 2018, the scholars of KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy at Lanning Square Primary and Whittier Middle Schools received backpacks full of new supplies for the start of their new school year.

#OperationBackpack is an annual fundraiser organized by The Cooper Foundation benefiting the students of Cooper’s neighborhood schools. Cooper University Health Care Research Team Instrumental in Clinical Trials of New Drug for Rare Genetic Disorder

Caroline Eggerding, MD, Division Head, Pediatric Neurology and Development, led a research team at Cooper University Health Care that was instrumental in conducting clinical trials for a ground-breaking new drug approved earlier this year to treat phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare genetic disorder.

PKU is a rare genetic disorder in which the body is unable to metabolize phenylalanine, an amino acid found in almost every source of natural protein, as well as a number of sweeteners. Read more.
