Cooper Employees Fan Out Across Camden, South Jersey for Day of Service

WHAT: More than 90 doctors, nurses, administrative leaders, and allied health professionals from Cooper University Health Care will fan out across eight different sites in Camden, Burlington, Gloucester counties for a day of community service. Cooper employees will work in community gardens, prepare meals at the Cathedral Kitchen, help out at an animal shelter, and organize donations at a food pantry among others. Read more.

Tools equip new parents with CPR and choking relief skills to use in emergencies.

The American Heart Association (AHA) with the support from the Amerigroup Foundation has donated 500 Infant CPR Anytime® kits to Cooper University Health Care for use in training new parents on emergency lifesaving techniques. Cooper will provide the Infant CPR Anytime kits to parents whose babies are discharged from the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and will be the first hospital in New Jersey to offer the Infant CPR Anytime training on their telehealth patient portal. Short-Term Traffic Flow and Construction Near Kelemen Circle

UPDATE: Due to weather, construction will begin on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, and continue through Friday, June 22, 2018 near the Kelemen Circle on the health sciences campus of Cooper University Health Care in Camden. As a result, only Emergency Department patients and Cooper employee shuttles will be able to access Kelemen Circle Monday through Friday 6:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Read more.

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Participating in Lung Cancer Early Detection Study

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper logoMD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper has joined a Lung Cancer Early Detection study aimed at improving lung cancer screening methods for those at risk. The study is part of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Moon Shots ProgramTM, a collaborative effort to accelerate advances that save patients’ lives.

Members of Cooper EMS Team Recognized by Camden County Police Department for Outstanding Work

Five members of the Cooper University Hospital EMS team were honored by the Camden County Metro Police Department for heroic work during an incident that occurred in March. The quarterly award presentation took place at Rowan University’s Camden campus and was presided over by NBC 10’s news anchor Vai Sikahema.

The event was dedicated to recognizing  first responders and other organizations who performed in cooperation with Camden County Police. Read more.

More than 70 students from HB Wilson Elementary School in Camden, NJ, visited Cooper University Health Care on May 30, 2018, to take part in the Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper’s Pediatric Health Fair. The event teaches  kids healthy habits at a young age. Through interactive games and engaging discussions, students learned about health, wellness, prevention, and safety from hospital and medical school volunteers. Read more.

Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper Pediatrics outpatient office in Camden celebrated national Red Nose Day on Thursday, May 24, 2018. Red Nose Day – launched in 2015 – is dedicated to ending child poverty around the world. Cooper Honors Trauma Surgeon With “Military Employee of the Year” Award

On May 22, 2018, Cooper University Health Care presented the 2018 Cooper Military Employee of the Year Award to trauma surgeon John Chovanes, DO, FACS, LTC, USAR MC, at a pre-Memorial Day celebration for Cooper employees who are veterans and/or active military.

The Cooper Military Employee of the Year Award – which will be presented annually – was established to formally recognize the outstanding contributions a Cooper staff member has made to the health system, the community, and the nation, as well as in support of Cooper’s mission to serve, to heal, to educate.
