Cooper Air Medical Services Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary

Cooper University Health Care’s Air Medical Services is celebrating its 10-year anniversary of service in South Jersey this month.

Cooper Air Medical Services launched on December 4, 2010. Since launching, Cooper Air Medical Services have provided lifesaving care to the community, transporting nearly 4,000 patients – 2,400 inter-facility transports, and more than 1,500 transports directly from a trauma location to the hospital. Cooper Employee Honored With Heroism Award for Saving Man’s Life

Yesenia “Yesi´ Santiago, a non-medical case manager for Cooper University Health Care’s Early Intervention Program (EIP), was honored with the Cooper Heroism Award for saving a man’s life in the community during the summer. Cooper Co-CEOs Kevin O’Dowd and Anthony Mazzarelli presented the award to Yesi during a recent ceremony.

This week, actor Jeff Bridges announced that he was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and is undergoing treatment. While many people are familiar with lung, breast, and colorectal cancers, they may not know as much about lymphoma.

Lymphoma is a cancer that starts in cells called lymphocytes that are part of the body’s immune system. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell found in the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, bone marrow, and almost every other organ of the body. Read more.

Cooper Doctor Heads Mission to Establish Much Needed Pediatric ICUs in Nigeria

Odiraa Nwankwor, MD, MPH, a pediatric intensivist at Cooper University Health Care and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Cooper Medical School, is leading an initiative to help establish pediatric intensive units in Nigeria.

Dr. Nwankwor, a Nigerian native and the Founder of Health Place for Children Initiative, developed the “Nigeria Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) Project” as part of Cooper’s Global Health program to bring medical equipment, guidance, and hand-on training to hospitals throughout that country.
