Cooper University Health Care’s Innovation Center recently hosted the second Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Hackathon, which included a pitch competition, an innovation showcase, and a reception. The showcase featured inventions from Cooper team members and collaborations with Rowan University, with posters and discussions from industry and state leaders.

(CAMDEN, NJ) Cooper University Health Care’s Center for Resuscitation Education and Community Engagement recently made its first community donation of an automated external defibrillator (AED), accompanied by training on the system, to the Little Rock Baptist Church in Camden. Supported by The Cooper Foundation, this initiative provided church leaders and members with hands-on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) education, equipping them with essential lifesaving skills. (MOORESTOWN, NJ) — MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper has expanded its footprint in South Jersey with the opening of a new, state-of-the-art radiation oncology suite at the Cooper University Health Care Moorestown Campus. This marks the fifth MD Anderson at Cooper radiation oncology treatment location in the region, bringing advanced cancer care close to home for more patients.

Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the new suite features a high-precision radiation accelerator that delivers targeted treatment to tumors, including stereotactic radiosurgery for brain tumors, with exceptional accuracy. Read more.

Joseph D’Orazio, MD, an addiction medicine specialist within Cooper University Health Care’s Center for Healing, its division of Addiction Medicine, participated in a panel discussion on recovery from substance use disorder hosted at WHYY last month.

Hosted by Maiken Scott, the host and creative director of WHYY’s science program “The Pulse,” the panel followed a brief screening of “Reframe and Reclaim: Shaping the Future of Recovery Stories,” a documentary series telling the story of our region’s response to the opioid epidemic. Read more.

 Long-time partners explore potential for joint innovation center to boost medical technology commercialization

GLASSBORO (Feb. 5, 2025) – Cooper University Health Care and Rowan University leaders are beginning work to create a joint innovation center to support a consortium of like-minded researchers and boost medical technology commercialization.

Inspired by a 12-year relationship formed through Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, the Joint Health Sciences Center, and the South Jersey Institute for Population Health in Camden, the two institutions are interested in deepening support for researchers and clinicians who want to bring real-world solutions from the lab bench to the marketplace.
