Stop the Bleed – A Class You Don’t Want to Miss!

By Diane Devenney, Communications Editor, Cooper Communications and Marketing Department

Cooper held its inaugural training sessions for National Stop the Bleed Day on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at The Ripa Center for Women’s Health and Wellness at Cooper in Voorhees and the Antioch Baptist Church in Camden.

As a Cooper employee, I had heard about the class and my curiosity was piqued. So, I decided to register for this one-hour session.

The hour-long class was packed with information and I discovered that much of the first aid training I learned years ago has become outdated.

Some of the topics covered in this class included the do’s and don’ts of tourniquet use, when and how to call 911, and legal protections for lay persons offering medical assistance.

I highly recommend this class to every Cooper employee, your family, friends, or even group instruction for any organizations you belong to. You receive classroom training from well-qualified instructors, as well as a hands-on session that includes packing a wound and how to properly use a tourniquet. Questions are welcomed throughout the program.

The confidence this training provides can give you the edge in helping to save a life – whether at home or out in public.
