National Hospitalist Day

This Thursday, March 5, 2020, Cooper honors our hospitalists during National Hospitalist Day.

Hospitalists are doctors whose primary professional focus is the general medical care of hospitalist patients. Their responsibilities include providing comprehensive care to patients throughout their stay in the hospital, education to students and residents, and leadership activities related to hospital medicine.

Hospital medicine was first founded at Cooper in 1998, as a section within the Division of General Internal Medicine; a distinct Division of Hospital Medicine was established in 2007. Cooper also offers a Hospital Medicine Fellowship and tailored electives for residents.

Cooper’s hospitalists also serve in a number of leadership, faculty, and committee roles within Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Division hospitalists also lead both the Cooper and Inspira Internal Medicine Residency programs, serve as inpatient medical faculty for both programs, and act as physician advisors for the care coordination and utilization management teams.

Thank you to Cooper’s hospitalists for all that you do for our patients and their families.
