World Breastfeeding Week 2022

World Breastfeeding Week (WBW2022) is August 1 through August 7, 2022. This year’s theme is “Step Up for Breastfeeding, Educate, and Support.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed health, nutrition, and livelihoods for the entire world, especially how new parents are feeding their newborns.  There has been an erosion of breastfeeding support that has contributed to infant malnutrition and food insecurity, and has exposed inequalities within societies. Breastfeeding is important in providing natural food sources.

The focus of WBW2022 is to strengthen, promote, protect, and support breastfeeding.  The Cooper chain of support includes patients, staff, providers, and community resources through WBW2022 objectives: inform, anchor, engage, and galvanize.

This week, step around the Cooper campus to learn how the Women’s and Children’s Institute “Steps Up for Breastfeeding.”
