MD Anderson Cooper Program Helps Men Learn More About Screening and Prevention

On Thursday, September 14, 2017,  MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper’s Cancer Outreach and Screening program hosted a community education program for South Jersey men at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ, on the importance of cancer screenings and prevention, and stroke prevention.

In addition to the physician experts, Ike Reese, SportsRadio 94WIP host and former Philadelphia Eagle, spoke about how men need to make their health and well-being a priority and his personal experience with cancer screening. Read more.

Books and More Books: Teen Makes Special Delivery to Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper

In February 2017, 13-year-old Charlotte Olson donated more than 1,300 books to Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper’s outpatient office in Voorhees for the Reach Out and Read program at Cooper. On September 7, Charlotte made a return visit to the office with a donation of several hundred more books towards her goal of collecting an additional 2,000 for the program.   Read more.

Childhood trauma survivors and their families enjoyed a super hero–themed day of fun with their families and the doctors and nurses who cared for them in a celebration of life reunion event at Cooper University Health Care on Saturday, September 9, 2017.

Cooper Surgeon First in NJ to perform minimally-invasive “GORE® TAG®” procedure to treat arch aortic aneurysms

In early September, a surgical team at Cooper University Health Care, led by Joseph V. Lombardi, MD, FACS, head of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and director of the Cooper Aortic Center, became the first in New Jersey to perform a new minimally-invasive treatment for complicated arch aortic aneurysms.

Cooper is one of only a handful of hospi­tals in the region—and fewer than 40 nationwide—participating in a pivotal study of the GORE® TAG® Thoracic Branch Endoprosthesis (TBE).   Read more.

Donations of blankets and messages of hope are part of ‘Subaru Loves to Care’ initiative

What: Subaru of America and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) are working together to provide much needed support and “warmth” to cancer patients and their families in communities across the country as part of the Subaru Loves to Care initiative.

Executives from Subaru of America’s corporate headquarters and LLS will deliver those messages and 100 specially made blankets to inpatients at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. Read more.
