Childhood trauma survivors and their families enjoyed a super hero–themed day of fun with their families and the doctors and nurses who cared for them in a celebration of life reunion event at Cooper University Health Care on Saturday, September 9, 2017.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, unintentional accidents are the leading cause of death in young children and adolescents in the United States. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care becomes third health system in the nation to offer whole-blood transfusions for massively bleeding trauma patients

Studies show whole-blood transfusion offers greater benefits for treating hemorrhagic shock

Cooper University Health Care, South Jersey’s only Level I Trauma Center, is the third academic tertiary care health system in the United States to offer whole blood transfusions for trauma patients who present with massive bleeding and hemorrhagic shock. Trauma centers are the only hospitals to offer whole blood transfusions. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care’s Level 1 Trauma Center Receives Verification From the American College of Surgeons

Cooper University Health Care has received reverification as a Level I Trauma Center and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center by the Verification Review Committee (VRC), an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma (COT) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Cooper, one of only three state-designated Level I trauma centers, is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year,  and has been serving South Jersey as the state-designated Level I trauma center for 35 years. Pinwheel Garden Planted at Cooper University Hospital to Recognize Child Abuse Awareness Month

Employees and staff of Cooper University Health Care and Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper “planted” a pinwheel garden on the front lawn of the hospital in honor of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention and Awareness Month.  In addition, the exterior of Cooper University Hospital is aglow in blue lights throughout the month of April to bring further awareness.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

As more Americans are getting behind the wheel, there has also been a sharp increase in the number of fatal accidents on the road.  The National Safety Council (NSC) this week released a new report indicating that the number of fatalities due to crashes is up six percent in 2016 from the previous year.
