Today, Cooper University Health Care has received an evaluation of 90 out of 100 and the designation of “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Top Performer” in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 15th anniversary edition of the Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey of healthcare facilities on policies and practices dedicated to the equitable treatment and inclusion of their LGBTQ+ patients, visitors and employees. Cooper University Health Care Donates More Than $50,000 in Medical Supplies to Support Ukrainian Relief Effort

Cooper University Health Care is donating more than $50,000 in medical supplies to help injured and displaced citizens in war-torn country of Ukraine. Cooper’s donation is part of an effort coordinated by the New Jersey Hospital Association and member hospitals in conjunction with the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA).

The donations collected from New Jersey hospitals will be transported from New Jersey to Poland and then will be distributed to selected drop-off points across Ukraine. Read more.

Cardiac Partners at Cooper and Inspira First in Region to Reach Heart Valve Device Milestone

Cardiac Partners Structural Heart team celebrated the 100th successful implantation of the lifesaving Mitral Clip. The Mitral Clip is a device for high-risk heart patients who have a severe form of leaky mitral valve disorder, called mitral regurgitation, and who were deemed too frail or sick to undergo open heart surgery. This new FDA-approved treatment was first offered at Cooper in the Spring of 2019. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care’s Neurological Institute is transforming neurological care in the region with the opening of a new, dedicated Acute Stroke and Neuro Interventional Suite within its Emergency Department – the first of its kind in the nation. Cooper is the first comprehensive stroke center in the United States equipped with the latest generation Siemens Healthineers biplane angiography suite integrated with a CT scanner, providing fully integrated surgical image guidance for minimally invasive treatment of strokes. Cooper’s Military, Diplomatic, and Field Surgical Affairs Sponsors Second ASSET Course

Recently, Cooper’s Military, Diplomatic, and Field Surgical Affairs held its 2ndAdvanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET) course with Cooper surgical residents, trauma fellows, medical students, U.S. Army OR Techs, LPNs, EMTs and Army health care providers assigned to Cooper participating. Nearly 40 participants spent an intensive day of learning about advanced surgical trauma care in Cooper Medical School of Rowan University’s Anatomy Laboratory with instruction from Cooper’s highly skilled trauma team. Keep on Truckin’: NJ Italian American Police Society Say ‘Thank You’ to Nurses at Cooper University Health Care with Unique Donation of Toy Trucks

Members of the New Jersey Italian American Police Society visited Cooper University Health Care to pay tribute to nurses for their efforts throughout the pandemic by donating a supply of collectible toy Hess trucks. Cherry Hill Imports Auto Group Provides Meals for Cooper University Health Care Team Members

Team members at Cooper University Health Care recently enjoyed a special lunch as a thank you to frontline health care workers courtesy of the good folks at Cherry Hill Imports Auto Group.

Over a period of several days, representatives from Cherry Hill Imports Auto Group provided more than 300 meals for a number of Cooper team members in clinical units hit particularly hard during the recent COVID-19 surge. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care Donates 200,000 KN95 Masks; Camden County Metro Police and Sheriff’s Department Will Assist in Distribution

To help the community prevent the spread of COVID-19, Cooper University Health Care will provide 200,000 non-medical grade KN95 masks to be distributed throughout Camden with the assistance of the Camden County Metro Police and Sheriff’s Departments.

The masks are not appropriate for clinical settings in hospitals and were purchased early in the pandemic when there was a significant shortage of all types of masks.   Read more.
