For Second Consecutive Year Forbes Lists Cooper on Its America’s Best Employers List in New Jersey for 2022

For the second consecutive year, Cooper University Health Care was named as one of America’s Best-in-State Employers by Forbes, the prominent national business publication. Cooper was one of only seven health systems in New Jersey to make the Forbes list in 2022.

Recovery Month 2022 Community Events and Initiatives

Camden County: An inaugural Camden-based community event series, “The Practices of Healing and Hope,” will launch on Thursday, September 15, 2022 and run through Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Camden County College’s Camden campus in partnership with the Center for Healing, Cooper Family Medicine, and other community partners. The kickoff event on September 15 will feature the center’s Dr. Baston and Iris Jones, who will both discuss the history of SUD treatment, pervasive systemic racism that has led to unjust disparities in care, and how communities can work together to not repeat the past and to ensure everyone possesses the knowledge they need to advocate for the treatments they deserve. Sepsis Awareness Month

In 2011, the Sepsis Alliance declared September to be Sepsis Awareness Month, an annual opportunity for individuals, health care professionals in every area of medicine, and organizations big and small to help save lives by raising awareness of the leading cause of deaths in U.S. hospitals – sepsis.

Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming response to infection, which can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, amputation, and death. Read more.

More than 2,200 backpacks donated through the Cooper Foundation’s Operation Backpack

In what has become an annual back-to-school time tradition, Cooper University Health Care team members and other donors have raised funds to purchase backpacks and school supplies for all students enrolled at KIPP Lanning Square Primary, KIPP Lanning Square Middle, KIPP Sumner Elementary, KIPP Hatch Middle and KIPP Cooper Norcross High School as part of the Foundation’s annual Operation Backpack. Overdose Awareness Week, recognized by the White House as the week during which International Overdose Awareness Day is memorialized (Wednesday, August 31), is a time of remembrance and recommitment to preventing overdose and supporting people struggling with substance use and substance use disorder (SUD) within our communities, state, and across the United States and worldwide.

During Overdose Awareness Week and year-round, the Cooper Center for Healing mourns for the lives lost to overdose in New Jersey and worldwide; acknowledges and addresses grief and trauma of patients, providers, and staff; and remains ever-dedicated to the center vision: that all patients struggling with pain, psychological trauma, and/or substance use have a home within the medical system and routinely receive compassionate, evidence-based medical treatment, allowing them to live full and satisfying lives.
