On September 24, Cooper’s Military, Diplomatic, and Field Surgical Affairs kicked off its inaugural Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET) course with Cooper residents, trauma fellows, medical students, Army OR Techs and Army health care providers assigned to Cooper. The participants spent an intensive day of learning about advanced surgical trauma care in Cooper Medical School of Rowan University’s Anatomy Laboratory with instruction from Cooper’s highly skilled trauma team. The Chairman of Cooper University Health Care Board of Trustees, George E. Norcross III, and Cooper Foundation Chairman, Philip A. Norcross, announced today that The Cooper Foundation has raised a record-breaking $2.3 million at its 11th Annual Red Hot Gala. Originally scheduled to be held at the TRIAD1828 CENTRE on the Camden waterfront, the gala was changed to a virtual format out of concern for the safety of guests during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Camden resident, Lillie Jackmon, got a surprise send-off as she rang the bell signaling the end of her radiation therapy treatment for lung cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper on Tuesday, September 21.  Camden Mayor Vic Carstarphen and Camden City Councilman Chris Collins joined the staff from MD Anderson at Cooper and dozens of Lillie’s friends and family members to wish her well following treatment. Training Program Helps Cooper Team Members Advance in Their Careers

Nine Cooper University Health Care team members recently graduated from the health system’s Critical Care Technician training program, a class to help entry-level team members advance in their health care careers while training for one of the fastest growing professions in the health care industry.

For the convenience of the community and to continue expanding vaccination rates in the region, Cooper University Health Care in conjunction with the New Jersey Department of Health will offer mobile walk-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics at the Cherry Hill Mall throughout September and October. More Than 2,100 Backpacks Donated Through The Cooper Foundation’s Operation Backpack

Thanks to the generosity of Cooper University Health Care team members and other donors, The Cooper Foundation purchased 2,110 backpacks and additional supplies for students enrolled at KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy’s Lanning Square Primary, Lanning Square Middle School, Whittier Elementary, Whittier Middle, and Charles Sumner High School as part of the Foundation’s annual Operation Backpack.
