Vascular Surgeon Joins Cooper University Health Care

Cooper University Health Care announced that vascular surgeon Bruce Tjaden, MD, recently joined the Cooper Surgical Services Institute. “We are excited to have Dr. Tjaden join our vascular surgery team,” said  Jeffrey P. Carpenter, MD, chief and chairman of the Cooper Surgical Services Institute. “His clinical skills and experience will be a great addition to Cooper’s outstanding vascular program as we expand services to serve the community.” Read more.

Cooper University Health Care Joins U.S. Army PaYs Program

Cooper University Health Care recently became a participating employer with the U.S. Army Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program. Cooper participates in a number of programs with the military and is the preeminent health system in the country for training combat medical teams in trauma medicine and providing important technical research for the United States Military.

The PaYS program is a strategic partnership between the Army and a cross section of private industry, academia and federal, state, and local public institutes. Read more.

Mount Laurel Family Practice Joins Cooper University Health Care Primary Care Division

Lara A. Bruneau, MD, and Nicole Hancq, MD, formerly of Bruneau Family Practice in Mount Laurel, recently joined Cooper University Health Care as part of its primary care network of providers.

Dr. Bruneau is board-certified in internal medicine and pediatrics. She received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed residencies in both internal medicine and pediatrics at Cooper.  Read more.

East Camden COVID-19 Testing Site to Close of July 2

The COVID-19 testing location at Dudley Grange Park at 3101 Federal Street in East Camden will wind down operations on Thursday, July 2, 2020. The site, operated jointly by Cooper University Health Care, the Camden County Freeholder Board, and Camden County Health Department, provided critical testing and information to thousands of residents of Camden County since early May. The site has experienced a reduction in the number of people coming for COVID-19 testing over the past few weeks. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care Offers New “Touchless” Check-In Experience at Its Primary and Specialty Offices Through Mobile Application

As the state and region gradually begin to re-open, Cooper University Health Care continues to take steps to mitigate the risk of spreading COVID-19 by introducing a “touchless experience” at its primary and specialty care offices.

“While many things have changed in the past few months, our practice of putting our patients’ health first has not changed and we are extending our use of technology to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 and other illnesses by providing a touchless health care experience for our patients,” said Kevin O’Dowd, JD, co-CEO of Cooper. Sick and injured stuffed bears help alleviate kids’ fears of going to the hospital and doctor

One of the highlights at Cooper University Health Care each spring is the Teddy Goes to Cooper program where kindergarten students from KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy visit the hospital to learn about staying healthy and to alleviate fears about going to the doctor. DLL, a global asset finance company, has donated 80 iPad minis to Cooper University Health Care to enhance communications for patients and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

With restricted visitor policies in place to continue to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, Cooper has used various technologies, including computer tablets, to facilitate communications between patients and their loved ones. Read more.
