A report on the highly successful National Institute for Children’s Health Quality (NICHQ)-led Best Fed Beginnings initiative is featured in the June online edition of the prestigious Pediatrics journal. The piece—Best Fed Beginnings: A Nationwide Quality Improvement Initiative to Increase Breastfeeding—features insights and analysis on the initiative’s major achievements, including driving 80 percent of participating hospitals to achieve “Baby-Friendly” status. Teddy Goes to Cooper!

Sick and injured stuffed bears help alleviate kids’ fears of going to the hospital and doctor

More than 100 kindergartners from the KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy helped treat stuffed bears suffering from sore paws, painful ears, torn fur and shortness of breath today during Cooper University Health Care’s second annual Teddy Goes to Cooper event. Bears were also able to receive any immunizations they might need for school. Read more.

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Physicians Presented Updates on Cancer Screenings at Recent CME Event

Over 80 primary care physicians, specialists, advanced practice providers, and other allied health professionals gathered on Wednesday, May 24, to learn about the most current cancer screening and risk reduction recommendations to share with their patients. This Continuing Medical Education (CME) event was co-sponsored by MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, Cooper University Health Care, Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection (NJCEED) program, and the Burlington Camden County Regional Chronic Disease Coalition. Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper Hosts Health Fair for Kids

The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper hosted a Health Fair for children from the Veterans Memorial Family School in Camden. The students learned about water safety, gun safety, nutrition, hand washing, the importance of exercise, asthma triggers and treatments. Healthy snacks were provided by Food Bank of South Jersey.

Cooper Honors Nurse With DAISY Award

Cooper University Health Care recently recognized Meghann Thornton, RN, of Medford Lakes  with the DAISY Award for providing exceptional nursing care. Meghann works as a nurse in Cooper’s Progressive Care Unit.

The DAISY Award, established by The DAISY Foundation, is an international program that celebrates the extraordinary care given by nurses every day. It is presented in collaboration with the American Organization of Nurse Executives. Read more.

With new healthcare technology partnership, New Jersey based Care Managers at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper University Health Care can schedule and monitor patients requiring medical and non-medical transportation.

Jersey City, NJ  RoundTrip, a healthcare technology company for hospitals and medical transportation providers, has announced a nationwide partnership with Lyft, expanding its ability to provide transportation for all patient needs at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper and Cooper University Hospital. Event Attended by Governor Christie, several former governors and other officials

Governor Chris Christie, five former governors, numerous elected officials and nearly 30 members of the Sheridan family joined Cooper University Health Care leaders today for the unveiling ceremony of Sheridan Pavilion at Three Cooper Plaza in honor of the former president and CEO of the health care system.  Mr. Sheridan joined Cooper in 2005 and served as president and CEO of The Cooper Health System from 2008 until his and his wife’s death in 2014. Cooper University Health Care’s EMS Outreach coordinators, in collaboration with the Cooper Trauma Department, will offer free Stop the Bleed training to community organizations, businesses, or agencies as part of a national initiative aimed at putting knowledge gained by first responders and the military into the hands of the public to help save lives during times of disaster.
