Cooper Congratulates MD Anderson Cancer Center on #1 Cancer Hospital Ranking

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is once again ranked the nation’s top hospital for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best Hospitals” survey. Since the survey began in 1990, MD Anderson has been named one of the top two cancer hospitals, and it has ranked first 13 times in the last 16 years.

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, which partnered with the world-renown institution in October 2013, is one of seven clinically integrated partner institutions in the United States. Read more.

Most Wired Hospitals Use Technology to Partner With Patients on Health

For the sixth time, Cooper University Health Care has been named one of the nation’s most wired hospitals by the annual Health Care’s Most Wired® survey developed by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum. According to the survey, now in its 19th year, the hospitals listed are those who make it easier for patients and providers to interact, thus improving communication, safety, and patient-provider relationships. Cooper Honors Haddonfield Nurse with DAISY Award

Cooper University Health Care recently recognized Diane Werner, RN, of Haddonfield, NJ, with The DAISY Award for providing exceptional nursing care. Diane works as a nurse in Cooper’s Post Anesthesia Care Unit and was nominated by the family of a recent patient.  She was cited for her professional care, compassion and advocacy on behalf of the patient following several recent surgeries. Studies show whole-blood transfusion offers greater benefits for treating hemorrhagic shock

Cooper University Health Care, South Jersey’s only Level I Trauma Center, is the third academic tertiary care health system in the United States to offer whole blood transfusions for trauma patients who present with massive bleeding and hemorrhagic shock. Cooper Foundation Receives $2.2 Million Donation to Fund Cell Research

The Cooper Foundation has received a gift of $2.2 million to fund specialized research at Cooper University Health Care to explore the role of a unique line of cells in certain cancers, wound healing, and vision. The donation will also facilitate expansion of basic science research at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.

Cooper University Health Care’s Level 1 Trauma Center Receives Verification From the American College of Surgeons

Cooper University Health Care has received reverification as a Level I Trauma Center and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center by the Verification Review Committee (VRC), an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma (COT) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Cooper, one of only three state-designated Level I trauma centers, is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year,  and has been serving South Jersey as the state-designated Level I trauma center for 35 years. Former Cooper Patient Credits Cooper Team with Saving His Life

When Kristen Rodriguez tweeted to FOX 29’s Mike Jerrick, she had one wish for Father’s Day: that her father might meet the Cooper trauma surgeon who saved his life. On Monday, June 19, the teams at Good Morning Philadelphia and Cooper University Health Care coordinated a surprise to help that wish come true. Seven weeks after Cooper Trauma Surgeon Dr. John Chovanes removed his gallbladder in an emergency surgery, Jack Bender was able to thank him in person. Read more.
