We’re so excited to share these photos of Elizabeth Pluck, who was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma in June 2016.  Last week, 19-year-old Elizabeth successfully completed her treatment and her scans are clear.  Elizabeth rang the bell on P5 with her mother by her side.

Helen was recognized for her continued commitment to excellence in the provision of oncology care.

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Honors Survivors During Cancer Survivor Week

Cancer survivorship is more than reaching the end of medical care. Survivorship is new set of physical, mental, and emotional triumphs and challenges shared by patients, families, and caregivers.

This week, MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper honored our survivors by hosting several celebrations during Cancer Survivor Week, which began on June 4 with National Cancer Survivors Day.

More than 200 people attended “Being a Savvy Cancer Survivor,” an informative lunch and lecture event for newly diagnosed patients, at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey. Read more.

International Medical Journal Publishes Results of Study: Once-weekly radiation treatment for some early stage breast cancer patients leads to increased patient compliance, greater convenience to patients, lowered costs, and patient outcomes on par with other current treatment

The International Journal of Radiation Oncology this week published the results of a clinical study led by Anthony E. Dragun, MD, chairman and chief of the Department of Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. The study showed that an experimental regimen of a higher dose, once-weekly breast irradiation following lumpectomy has comparable outcomes to the current standard of daily radiation while realizing greater convenience for patients, better compliance and completion rates of the prescribed treatments, and lower costs. Celebration of Life and Remembrance on April 18

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper recently hosted a Celebration of Life and Remembrance to allow families, friends, and caregivers to pay tribute to and celebrate the lives of their loved ones. Physicians, nurses, and staff also joined in to provide support and share how special each patient was to our team at MD Anderson Cooper.

We will host another Celebration of Life and Remembrance on Tuesday, April 18 from 6 p.m. Read more.

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Offers Free Colorectal Cancer Education and Screening for Uninsured Camden County Residents

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The good news is that in the last decade there has been unprecedented progress in reducing colorectal cancer incidence and death rates in the U.S. in both men and women annually. These improvements are the result of cancer prevention and early diagnosis through screening and better treatment modalities.

American Cancer Society, MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper unite elected officials and South Jersey community leaders in the fight against colorectal cancer

Leaders sign pledge for national “80% x 2018” colorectal cancer screening campaign.

With a swipe of a pen, South Jersey community leaders made history today as they announced their commitment to implement changes within their individual organizations that will increase colorectal cancer screening in Camden and surrounding areas.

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 135,000 people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in the United States this year, and over 50,000 will die from the disease. Read more.

Avon Breast Health Outreach Program Awards Grant to MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper

The Avon Breast Health Outreach Program has awarded a $37,000 one-year grant to MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper’s Camden County Cancer Screening Project (CCCSP) to increase awareness of the life-saving benefits of early detection of breast cancer. It is the tenth year that the program has received funding from the Avon Foundation for Women to support its work on this important health issue, and in recognition of the program’s excellence. MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Opens Expanded Infusion Center

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper unveiled a new, expanded infusion center on Friday, November 4, 2016, for patients needing chemotherapy and other infusion treatments. The $3.3 million expansion, located on the third floor of MD Anderson Cooper, nearly doubles the treatment area available for patients from 18 infusion bays and two private rooms to 32 bays and four private rooms.

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Receives a $35,000 Grant to Support Metastatic Breast Cancer Patients

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper received a $35,000 grant from the Avon-Pfizer Metastatic Breast Cancer Grants Program: Identify-Amplify-Unify. MD Anderson Cooper was one of only 22 non-profit organizations to receive a grant to support and educate metastatic breast cancer patients, their caregivers, and their communities.
